2024 LFC Tennis Events
Ladies’ Guest Day – Sunday, June 2nd at 9:00am – Lady members can kick the season off by bringing a guest for a fun morning of tennis. Along with 1.5 hours of drills, we will be serving a breakfast spread of fruit, pastries, and mimosas.
Junior Tennis Kickoff Extravaganza – Thursday, June 6th at 10:00am– Junior members can start the summer off in style with the Kickoff Extravaganza! We’ll be playing all sorts of games across many sports, giving out prizes, and sending everyone home with candy! This event is for junior members between the ages of 6-13.
Welcome Back Woods and Whites – Friday, June 7th at 7:00pm – Members are invited to wear all whites while playing in tennis drills with wooden racquets. Bring an appetizer to pass and signature cocktails will also be served at this event.
Margarita Mixers – The name says it all, margaritas will be served at these events! A fun evening of tennis drills and margaritas. Bring an appetizer to pass as you sip your margarita! As this event is very popular, we will be offering it three times this summer: June 21st at 7:00pm, July 12th at 7:00pm, and August 2nd at 7:00pm. Registration for these events will open two weeks prior to each event.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis Classics – August 17/18th – These annual tournaments are back for another fun edition! More information will be sent to the membership as we get closer to this event.
Pee Wee – (3-6 year old) – This class will use large foam balls and smaller quick start nets to help kids learn tennis. Participants will learn the tennis basics along with games to help with hand eye coordination and motor skills. No prior experience required.
Red Ball – (5-7 year old) – This class will use the red felt tennis balls which are slightly larger than a traditional tennis ball with a lower bounce and move more slowly in the air making it easier for beginners. Smaller quick start nets will also be used for this class. Participants will continue learning the tennis basics along with games that help with hand eye coordination, motor skills, and rallying the ball across the net. Classes will run for 45 minutes. Some prior tennis experience is encouraged and members can contact Todd with any questions regarding their child participating in this class.
Orange Ball – (7-9 year old) – This class will use the orange felt tennis balls that move lower and slower that a traditional ball which makes it easier for younger players learning the game and will be played on a smaller court size. Participants will be working on technique and consistency with the basic tennis strokes. Point play games and serving will be introduced during this class. Members can contact Todd with any questions regarding their child participating in this class.
Grand Prix – (9-12 year old) – This class will use regular felt tennis balls and use the full tennis court. Participants will continue to work on technique and look to improve consistency on groundstrokes, volleys, and serves. Students will be divided up within the class depending on numbers and ability levels. Members can contact Todd with any questions regarding their child participating in this class.
Junior Challenger – (10-14 year old) – This class is for the junior player who is interested in learning match play skills and strategy. Participants should be able to demonstrate consistent slow-paced rallies, the ability to volley, and the basics of the serve. Students will be split up by ability level on the courts and will take part in match play against fellow students. Classes will run for 1.5 hours. Advanced Juniors – (11-16 year old) – This class is for the junior player who has experience playing matches. Participants have solid stroke dependability and are working on directional control and power during drills. Players should have an understanding of most all tennis strokes along with knowledge of match play scoring and positioning. Classes will run for 1.5 hours. Members can contact Todd if you have any questions regarding the level of play for this class.
Junior Supervised Matchplay – (10-16 year old) – This class is for junior players interested in match play practice. Junior players must be able to successfully serve on a consistent basis, keep score by themselves, and hold a short rally. The class size will be limited to ensure players are getting enough matches and coaches will be on the court giving instructional tips to players during the matches. Classes will run for 1.5 hours. Members can contact Todd if you have any questions regarding the level of play needed to enroll in this class.
The Junior Tennis Team is back for the 2024 season! Junior tennis team will be on Fridays with match play held at LFC or against other area clubs and will begin on June 7th. This is a great learning experience for newer players to get a better handle on playing matches and for more seasoned players to get good match play practice. It is recommended that all junior team members also sign up for youth drills during the week to work on their tennis strokes and to practice playing points. Private lessons with Director of Tennis, Todd Fisher
$75 per hour private
The LFC is pleased to announce that Todd Fisher will be returning as our Director of Tennis. The 2024 summer tennis season will mark Todd’s 14th summer as the Director of Tennis at LFC. Todd has been teaching tennis in the area for 18 years, working with all types of players from nationally ranked juniors to beginner adults. He has worked in both small country club settings as well as commercial tennis facilities, such as the La Grange Country Club, the Cress Creek Country Club, and the Hinsdale Racquet Club. Todd graduated from Ferris State University earning a degree in marketing with a specialization in Professional Tennis Management.
Intro to Tennis: Player has had little or no previous play or instruction. This player will learn basic strokes, rules, and scoring of the game.
"C" Level: Equivalent to USTA rating of 2.5. Player has the ability to sustain a short rally at a slow pace. Player is working on ball placement and court coverage.
"B" Level: Equivalent to USTA rating of 3.0. Player has stroke dependability and moderate shots. Player is working on depth, directional control, and power.
“A” Level: Equivalent to USTA rating of 3.5 and higher. Player has the ability to control both forehand and backhand shots, use of lobs, overheads, and volleys. Player is using pace, direction, and spin.
Cardio Tennis: Open to all levels. This class will focus on giving players a high-energy workout while playing tennis.
